Housing Sector Development
In partnership with GIBB Africa and KV3, AECOM International Development assisted the Government of Southern Sudan in structuring public-private partnerships for the development of housing in urban areas. The participation of private developers in financing and building housing projects was developed as one of the options for urban housing development over the next five years. The technical assistance also prepared a policy and program for improving access to urban land for residential and other uses — a huge need with ongoing large-scale return of refugees and internally displaced persons to Southern Sudanese towns. Specific outputs included a demand survey, a supply survey, housing policy options, an urban land development policy and program, and options for community-based housing development.
